The following tips will help you look beautiful in person as well as in photographs.

It goes without saying that we all want to look our best for the big day. Preparation is the key. Take care of your skin, hair and body in the months leading up to the wedding and you will have a good base to start from. Avoid using products that can cause side effects such as dryness, flaking, or redness.

• Keep in mind that regardless of the product, shade, or application technique, makeup is only as good as the skin it covers. Anticipate your skin’s needs based on its history and the weather (is the event in a location where it will be more humid, arid, or cold than your skin is used to?) then choose products accordingly.

• To promote balance in your life and to help you de-stress, try the Aromatherapy/Accupressure Massage. The relaxing scent of lavender and citrus oils is so claming. • Opt for a soft pink color for your nails rather than the standard pink and white. The photos will be more natural and not so harsh. Submitted by; Suzie Miller, 480-570-1311.

• Always bring an expra pair of panty hose for you and your bridal party. Submitted by; Suzie Miller, My Salon, 480-570-1311.

• To give your skin that healthy glow, drink plenty of water, at least 8 glasses per day. This will help prevent skin from getting dehydrated, dull and dry. Essential fatty acids found in salmon, green vegetables, nuts and seeds are important for beautiful skin and hair. Try to eat these foods often.

• You will want to look slim and happy in your wedding gown. So watch what you eat in the months coming up to the wedding and exercise regularly. A good tip to prevent bloating as sworn by Hollywood stars before the Oscars are to cut down on carb's the last few weeks before the big day. This should help eliminate any unwanted bumps and bulges.

• Don’t have a facial, microdermabrasion, peel, or any other spa or dermatologist treatment within two weeks of the event, especially if you have not had such procedures performed in the past. The last thing you want to deal with is the complications that could result. If a trip to the spa is part of your bridal bliss, use the time to get a stress-relieving massage or manicure and pedicure rather than a facial.

• Please don’t forget to exfoliate your elbows! Dark, dry elbows can ruin the best beauty intentions. In fact, you should have an exfoliating routine for your back, arms and chest or any other part of your skin that will show. This will give a lovely healthy glow to your body. Use loads of body cream after you exfoliate to sooth and moisten the skin.

• Stay away from fried foods. The heavy oils can lead to breakouts and come out as excess oil on the face. Submitted by: Deborah Thum, The Zen of Beauty, Scottsdale, AZ. 480-393-3127. www.thezenofbeauty.com

• Keep your skin in shape with a daily cleansing, toning and moisturizing routine. It’s very important that you are using the right products for your skin type. Remember to exfoliate your skin weekly, this will eliminate old dull skin cells and reveal new fresh skin beneath.

• Your skin is the basis for your wedding day beauty. Make sure you drink plenty of water and stay out of the sun in the weeks leading up the wedding.

• Several months before the wedding: If you do not already use moisturizer, now is the time to start. These items will help to keep your skin refreshed. Lip balm will moisturize your lips, which is helpful because lipstick color fades unevenly on dry lips.

• For brides with oily skin: Be sure to avoid any harsh skin treatments as these can actually increase the amount of oil in your skin. A better alternative is to being a skin care routine with cleansers and toners made specifically for your skin type.

• Do not be afraid to experiment with makeup in the months leading up to the wedding. You should have your makeup choices made at least a month before the wedding so that you can be sure you do not have unwanted reactions to new products.

• Tuck a handkerchief in your bouquet. Even if you don’t shed a tear, use it to wipe lipstick from your groom's mouth after the kiss.
